I recently acquired this virus via my flash drive. I unplugged the internet connection as soon as Avast responded, however, I am afraid I have been infected. I formatted the flash drive and the warning messages stopped. I conducted a full, thorough scan in safe mode and no virus was found. I ran Flash Disinfector as well. I do not know what registry entries to check for.
My worries are that my computer has been compromised. Prior to the internet connection being unplugged, firefox connected to an "americangreetings" website. After the connection was unplugged, firefox continued to attempt connection to a website with an ip address as the url.
What are the dangers of this virus? Is it low, medium, or high risk? I am not able to find much information on it. Do I need to reformat my hard drive or worry about the hacker having gained sensitive personal information (i.e. identity theft)?
Thank you for your time and help.
